Today I traveled to the northern Tochigi city of Otawara for their annual spice festival. In Japan, hot spice or 唐辛子(togarashi) is made from peppers. Japanese food is normally not spicy at all, but occasionally somebody adventurous will add some spice into their meal.
After some tacos and a gelato to cool off the spiciness, I then headed to Nasushiobara to a foot onsen (or hot spring).
Unlike regular hot springs where you bathe your entire body, this was just to soak your tired feet and relieve some stress.
The water temperature was quite hot, enough to turn your skin red. There were also stones of varying size to massage your feet and hit certain pressure points to relieve various ailments such as motion sickness & digestion.

The weather was rainy and a bit cold all day, so warming myself inside with spicy tacos, and outside with a hot spring, were quite relaxing and enjoyable.
